Growing Spiritual Grit In Teenagers

The Strength They Need to do Tough Stuff

Now more than ever, teenagers are in desperate need of strength and perseverance—especially as they try to follow Jesus in a culture that is rapidly moving away from him. Group’s Youth Ministry Local Training is built specifically for “a time such as this.”

Join us for a half day of training focused on creating a ministry environment that naturally grows grit in teenagers—you’ll learn how to help them tap into the “core strength” in the heart of Jesus, then experience a wide menu of “grit-growing” strategies and ideas.

Fully field-tested to meet today’s youth ministry challenges!

This training is a half-day practical youth ministry training that focuses on building spiritual grit in teenagers.

Building endurance, character, confidence, and hope in teenagers.

How risk-taking in ministry fuels long-term impact.

How to inspire kids to do "more," instead of doing "for," them in ministry.

9:00 9:30 a.m.

Session 1:

In a culture that’s working overtime to make life easier for its kids, the unintended consequence is a generation of young people who lack the strength they desperately need to persevere in life, and in their faith. Learn about groundbreaking research into the two factors that fuel spiritual grit in young people, and how a deepening relationship with Jesus fuels both.

9:30 10:15 a.m.

Session 2:

We can’t “should” teenagers into an all-in desire to follow Jesus—desire grows organically. But there’s a lot we can do as youth workers to plant that desire in students, so they become “gourmet fanatics” about Jesus. Learn practical ways to help your teenagers find “a passion for something higher than themselves” in Jesus—the key to developing perseverance and strength in their faith.

10:15 10:30 a.m.

10:30 12:30 p.m.

Session 3:

With every single person he met, Jesus found creative ways to grow their spiritual grit. We can learn from what he modeled, and create a ministry environment that mirrors His grit-growing strategies. Here’s how to infuse your ministry with healthy risk-taking, and learn a crowd-sourced way to produce lots of field-tested ideas for growth-producing risks. Then learn and experience five ways you can “Lead the Hard Way” in your ministry, helping your teenagers develop grit by leaning into hard things. Our students grow like crazy when we pump the brakes on what we do for them, and expect them to do more instead.

We know that in today’s world being a good steward is more important than ever before. That’s why we are providing you with affordable training right in your city, making it so everyone on your team can build and grow together.

A half day of practical youth ministry training that focuses on building spiritual grit in teenagers. You’ll learn:

  • What it takes to build endurance, character, confidence, and hope in teenagers
  • How risk-taking in ministry fuels long-term impact
  • How to inspire kids to do “more” instead of doing “for” them in ministry

We use our R.E.A.L. approach to training, which means it will be hands-on, you’ll try things that you can apply right away, and you’ll end up retaining over 70 percent of what you learn. We also create an environment where you’ll learn from each other. All of this will be taught by training pros who aren’t reading from a script, but practicing what they preach.

Thanks for your honesty. No, it is not a big infomercial. You don’t need to use our curriculum, or resources to attend or to understand how to cultivate grit in teenagers. We will have resources that you can purchase and explore, however.

This training works for 1 person, 2 people, or teams of 10. That’s why experiential learning is so powerful! Teams will walk away being on the same page, fired up to help teenagers grow strength and perseverance. And don’t forget to bring volunteers and even parents!

Child care is not provided. We love kids! But this is an opportunity for just leaders—teens and adults.

Lunch is not provided. Most participants go out to lunch with their teams afterward to debrief. Water, coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided during the event.

We understand that circumstances come up that you can’t help. This is a nonrefundable event; however, you may substitute a person in your place at any time. Please give us a call if you would like help with that.

Romans 5:3-4

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
