Why Kingdom of David VBS

More Than A Story
The Heart Behind the Kingdom of David VBS

Bringing Bible Times to Life for Today’s Kids

Bring BibleTimes to Life

Today’s kids are growing up in a world overflowing with stories. They can stream epic adventures in seconds, explore imaginary worlds through games, and scroll endless content designed to capture their attention. Kids’ imaginations are enormous—which is one thing we love about them!

But in a world of fiction and fairy tales, sometimes Bible stories can start to feel distant to kids. Ancient cities, shepherd boys, giant battles, and kings may sound more like fantasy than fact. Children might wonder, Did these people really live? Did these things actually happen? What does any of this have to do with me?

That’s one of the biggest reasons we created Kingdom of David.

We wanted to create more than a flashy theme. Our team wanted to craft an experience that slingshots kids back in time, dropping them smack into the middle of the action. This is a one-of-a-kind Bible-times adventure where Scripture feels vivid, personal, and real. Instead of simply hearing about David, kids hear from David. They step into his world. They walk the bustling streets of Jerusalem, explore the culture of the kingdom, and come face-to-face with the people who lived these unforgettable stories.

Because when kids can experience the Bible, something changes.

Suddenly, David isn’t just a character in a picture book. He’s a real kid who protected sheep from hungry lions. He’s a teenager who felt fear but trusted God anyway. He’s a musician, warrior, leader, friend, and worshipper whose life was filled with victories, mistakes, celebrations, and challenges.

And kids begin to realize: If God worked through David, maybe he can work through me, too.

Helping Kids Discover the Heart of God

Helping Kids Discover

That heartbeat shaped every part of Kingdom of David. From slaying a giant to ruling a kingdom, King David leads kids on a journey through his life’s adventures—not just so they’ll know the stories, but so they’ll discover what it means to courageously seek the heart of God in their own lives.

Each day kids discover a different aspect of God’s heart in a way that connects to the challenges they’re facing today.

On Day 1, when Samuel anoints David as the future king, kids see that God’s heart is wise. In a world where kids constantly feel pressure to look a certain way or measure up, they learn that God looks beyond appearances. God sees the heart.

On Day 2, as David faces Goliath, kids discover that God’s heart is courageous. Many kids face giants of their own—fear, anxiety, loneliness, or insecurity. David’s story reminds them courage doesn’t come from being the strongest—it comes from trusting God.

Day 3 introduces the story of Abigail bringing peace between David and Nabal, helping kids see that God’s heart is for peace. In a culture where conflict and division seem everywhere, kids find that peacemaking is powerful.

On Day 4, as David becomes king, kids encounter the truth that God’s heart is loving. Through every high and low of David’s journey, God remains compassionate, patient, merciful, and faithful. We want kids to know that same love surrounds them, too.

Then Day 5 erupts with celebration as David dances before the Ark of the Covenant! Kids find that God’s heart is joyful. God isn’t a stuffy, distant deity! He delights in joy, smiles, and laughter!

Inviting Kids Into a Story Bigger Than Themselves

Inviting kids into the story

Kingdom of David was intentionally designed with your kids in mind. Kids who are imaginative. Kids who ask questions. Kids who long for adventure. Kids who need to know the Bible isn’t disconnected from real life.

And maybe that’s what makes Kingdom of David feel so powerful: Somewhere between the giant battles, joyful worship, bustling marketplace, and unforgettable Bible encounters, kids stop feeling like they’re hearing an ancient story—and start realizing they’re being invited into God’s story themselves.

We’re excited to hear how the kids in your church step into a story that’s bigger, older, and more life-changing than anything they’ll find on a screen. We can’t wait for you to guide them in understanding—and seeking—the heart of God.

Because when faith is more than a story, it makes an eternal difference.
