  • Easy for you—and your volunteers. Everything you need to plan this amazing 2-to 3-hour event is in on convenient kit.
  • So much fun kids hate to leave! (really…it happened at our field test)
  • A great way to reach your community.
Great for all ages—and any size church!

Maker Fest is family fun for all ages!
At Maker Fest, families are greeted and each child receives a Creator's Crate--a nifty box to keep their projects and goodies throughout the event and to take home.
  • Doodle & Design - Kids invent a story in a "Make Your Own Adventure" book. They get to write the story, draw the characters, and learn more about how Jesus can be their forever friend!
  • Tinker & Transform - Small Maker Motors are the starting point for toys kids get to make themselves. Kids can use templates that are provided or invent their own creation.
  • Wind & Weave - Kids weave a basket using a pre-cut Weaver's Frame and ribbon or yarn. They'll also learn about Tinker the Harvest Mouse and how God created her to weave a nest from grass. Kids will get a Tinker Buddy Tag here.
  • Brighten & Bedazzle Kids will color and glue 3-D items to three giant Bedazzle Posters. It's one big art project that everyone contributes to—and it sure looks cool when it's done!
  • Sing & Stage The Bible story of Creation happens here—along with lots of fun singing and making music.
  • Toss & Target - Kids make colorful Launchers, then launch pom-poms or cotton balls at DIY targets. So much fun!
  • Make & Munch - Kids will select a few food items that can be used to create something, and when they’re done inventing they can eat their project. Yum!
  • Smile & Snap - Families have their pictures taken with a variety of items—then you'll follow up after the event by mailing Follow-up Fotos Frames with their photo and an invitation to return to your church.
  • Plus, Mini Makers will have special projects targeted at their skill level in a preschool-friendly area.

Q: Our church is planning an outdoor Fall Festival. Would Maker Fest be appropriate for an outdoor venue? We'll be blocking off the street next to our building on a Saturday morning as we don't have a parking lot and not much lawn. Would Maker Fest be suitable for such an event?

A: There are some activities that would be suitable for doing outdoors, but there are others that would not be unless you adapted them. It would take a bit of adaptation to make it work in and outdoor venue, but you might be able to. We did not field test this event for an outdoor option.

Q: shorter program being developed? I noticed that CAMPOUT seems to be a shorter version of last years' CaveQuest. Will Maker Fun Factory be available next year in a 3 night program?

A: The Weekend VBS theme will be released in October. The Maker Fest shown on this page is a 2- 3 hour event that is a great follow up for Maker Fun Factory.
