adventures that come with your Jabber Mat. Did you know? There
are 5 game boards on every Jabber Mat. They are perfect for early
arriver’s or
extra fun for extra time!
Whole
Mat Games
- Name
That Word: Toss a coin. Using the first letter (or sound)
of the picture closest to the coin, say a word from the lesson
that starts with the same letter.
- Hop
What? Pick a set of spaces and play hopscotch.
- Twisted! Flip a penny to determine left or right, and then flip it
again to determine hand or foot. Then toss the coin to see
what color. All team members work to put the right body part
in the proper colored spaces without letting anyone tip over.
- Team-Building
Games
- Cover
Up: Pick a color. Using only the supplies you have on your
mat (bodies, shoes, etc.), cover up every part of the mat that
has that color.
- Circle
Up! Pick one color of a circle. Then, as a team, try to fold
the mat so just that circle is showing on top.
- Board
Games
- Using
the Checkerboard: About Me—Take turns telling one thing
about yourself that no one in the group knows, and put a penny
on a square. Fill in the whole board with pennies.
- Using
the Triangle: Penniless—Fill all circles but one with
pennies. Take turns jumping one penny over another into an
empty space. Remove the “jumped” penny as you
tell one thing you learned from the lesson until no one can
jump anymore.
Parachute
Games For these games, everyone holds onto the mat’s edges
- Captured: Hold onto the mat near your circle, fly it up, and have two
people trade sides by running under the mat while the rest
of the team tries to capture them
- Pop
the Penny: Flip the penny from one circle to the next, but
only after you’ve paraphrased the day’s Bible verse,
affirmed a neighbor, whistled a tune, told about a best-ever
birthday present, spelled your name backward, described the
perfect candy bar, or named a favorite sport.
